Building A Slab Foundation

A slab foundation is just what it states. Instead of digging out a foundation, a slab of concrete is poured right on the ground. For drainage purposes gravel is laid down first. A shallow trench is dug around the perimeter and the concrete is poured thicker at the ends. This serves as the footer and it is usually reinforced with rods. In order to prevent or minimize cracking of the concrete, a wire mesh is usually placed in the concrete.
This type of construction is generally meant for areas where the ground does not freeze. However, it is possible to insulate the slab in order to prevent it from being damaged by frost. More info: slab foundation Dallas
