With the closing of many emergency rooms, urgent care has become a staple in the United States. Urgent care does not require an appointment and patients are taken on a walk-in basis. Urgent care often times has a shorter waiting period then emergency rooms. Urgent care originally opened in the 1970′s and has gained in popularity.
